Trilateral Road Transport Inspector Exchange: Poland, Germany, Czech Republic
On September 9, 2025, the trilateral exchange of road transport inspectors between Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic began. The event was organised by the General Inspectorate of Road Transport in Poland (GITD) as part of cooperation within the Euro Contrôle Route European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (ECR EGTC). The exchange will continue until September 11, 2025.
The main goal of the meeting is to exchange professional experiences, improve inspection methods, and develop uniform EU road transport inspection standards. These efforts aim to harmonise inspection procedures across all European Union member states and to eliminate differences in how road transport inspections are carried out.
The main topics addressed during the meeting include the technical condition of vehicles, the proper securing of cargo, and compliance with EU social regulations in road transport, such as driving and rest times.
A total of 14 inspectors are participating in the exchange. The Polish Road Transport Inspection (ITD) is represented by experienced inspectors from Bydgoszcz, Radom, and Opole. German inspectors represent the Bundesamt für Logistik und Mobilität (BALM), while Czech inspectors represent the newly established Inspekce silniční dopravy (INSID).
The program of the event is divided into two modules. The practical inspection module, held on September 9–10 near Brwinów, allows inspectors to jointly conduct truck inspections and share practical knowledge. The theoretical module, held at the headquarters of the General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD) in Warsaw, includes presentations on institutional structures, operations, and recent achievements. The presentation by the Polish inspection provides an opportunity to introduce international guests to the scope and specifics of ITD activities.
The trilateral road transport inspector exchange between Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic is organised regularly and rotates between the participating countries. This initiative strengthens cooperation among inspection authorities, enhances the efficiency of road transport oversight in Central Europe, and contributes to greater road safety across the EU.
