Driving Forward: Outcomes of the ECR EGTC General Assembly in the Netherlands

On 15–16 May 2025, members of the ECR EGTC (Euro Contrôle Route European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation) convened for the second General Assembly of the year. Day one took place at the organisation’s headquarters in Rijswijk, while the second day was hosted at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management in The Hague, supported by the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).

The event brought together representatives from all seven founding member states—Croatia, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Poland—to discuss strategic priorities and the future direction of ECR EGTC.

A major highlight was the initiation of the Czech Republic’s accession process, signalling the beginning of an important expansion for the organisation. Once complete, ECR EGTC will grow to eight member countries, reinforcing its role as a key platform for harmonised cross-border cooperation in road transport safety and enforcement.

Over the two days, participants engaged in high-level discussions addressing both operational and governance matters. Topics included the relaunch of expert groups, progress on presidential priorities, organisational financial planning, and regulatory frameworks for reimbursement and business travel. The meeting also featured updates on internal governance, including monitoring board composition, and explored opportunities for digital advancement and broader member engagement.

The General Assembly demonstrated ECR EGTC’s strong commitment to advancing shared goals across Europe. Through closer cooperation, structural improvement, and strategic foresight, the organisation continues to strengthen its impact on road safety, enforcement harmonisation, and sustainability in European transport.
