Welcoming our New Director: Heinz Albert Stumpen

ECR-EGTC is excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Heinz Albert Stumpen as our new Director. With a career dedicated to enhancing road traffic safety and a rich history of leadership within Europe's road policing network, Mr. Stumpen is poised to guide ECR-EGTC through its next chapter of growth and development.

His career began in 1978 as a police officer in North Rhine-Westphalia, where he quickly ascended to senior roles thanks to his exceptional skills and dedication. As of 1999, he was a Senior Police Officer with strategic and managerial responsibilities, particularly in the Traffic Branch, significantly contributing to road traffic safety in the city of Münster and motorways in the area and beyond.

From 2019 to 2022, he served as the Secretary General of ROADPOL (European Roads Policing Network), where he played a pivotal role in enhancing the network's operational efficiency and outreach. His leadership helped foster collaboration among thirty member states, strengthening Europe's collective efforts to ensure road safety.

As of 2013 Mr. Stumpen was lecturer at the German Police University and deputy head of the faculty traffic science and traffic psychology.
His academic contributions have been equally impactful, where he has shared his vast knowledge in traffic science and psychology with master students and future senior police officers from all over Germany, shaping the next generation of leaders in road safety management.

As we welcome Mr. Stumpen to his new role at ECR-EGTC, we look forward to leveraging his extensive experience to spearhead initiatives that will further our mission of making European roads safer for all.
